# Rondar vs OpenHands

Rondar took less time than OpenHands on tasks 1 to 6, and only Rondar gave each session a preview address that opens anywhere and combined several pull requests into one release.

The two products ran on different days and on different hardware, so these times are not a pure speed measure.

## How to read these results

OpenHands ran self-hosted on a workstation and Rondar ran on production, on different days.

OpenHands has no effort setting, so it used the agent's default. Rondar used medium.

The hardware differs, so these times are not a pure speed measure.

The OpenHands time for the footer change includes a full setup.

## Where OpenHands is better

- OpenHands is free and open source under the MIT license. It runs on your own computer with your own Claude subscription. Rondar has plans from $20 a month.

- OpenHands has more choice of agents: OpenHands, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Pi, OpenCode or any ACP agent.

- OpenHands has agent profiles that limit tools and MCP servers.

- OpenHands has an MCP marketplace, with GitHub, Slack, Linear, Jira, Notion, GitLab and more.

- OpenHands has memory across conversations.

- OpenHands has an "ask before risky actions" setting, and a second model that checks the work.

- OpenHands runs on backends from a laptop to Kubernetes, or on their cloud.

## How we tested

Tested on October 23 and 25, 2026. OpenHands ran on October 25, 2026. Rondar ran on October 23, 2026. Both worked on the same web app copy, with one planted paging bug and one security advisory on main. Both used the same Claude model family.

OpenHands Agent Canvas 1.33.0 ran self-hosted on a workstation (free, MIT). Each conversation ran in its own Docker container (Python image, 2 CPU, 4 GB). The agent was Claude Code over ACP, with Opus. Rondar ran on production.

Prices and features of OpenHands come from this test. See [OpenHands' product page](https://www.openhands.dev/) and [Rondar pricing](/pricing).
